Postpartum care

Are you a Brooklyn parent in your postpartum recovery period? Luckily in our urban environment, there is some ease to finding good support as you take some time to heal from the extended process of pregnancy and the sudden and impactful process of giving birth.

If you are in Prospect Heights, order some soothing chicken soup from Gertrude’s or other warm comfort foods from R & D Foods , meet up with other parents in the Prospect Lefferts Parents FB Group, and come get a Postpartum Recovery Massage at MaMassage® Brooklyn.

If you are 0-12 weeks into the postpartum after pregnancy, and recovering from any type of birth, this session will be tailored to your specific needs as you recover. The postpartum session may or may not include abdominal massage, manual lymph drainage, therapeutic breast massage, swedish massage, acupressure and/or other techniques to support the postpartum period and optimize your recovery. In this study, therapeutic breast massage or TBM was found to be “helpful for the reduction of acute breast pain associated with milk stasis. Mothers find TBM helpful both immediately in-office and for home management of future episodes.” Manual lymph drainage is effective in reducing postpartum swelling, and in this study was also very effective in treating constipation, a common postpartum symptom.
